Applications are now open for young people aged 11-17, living in Hertsmere.
Join us for an exciting five-day film and TV programme during the October half-term school holidays.
Participants will be able to create, shoot, and premiere an original short film or creative project and explore the many different jobs available in production, which could include everything from operating the camera to set design, from scriptwriting to editing.
No previous experience is required, just an enthusiasm and passion for filmmaking!
The programme runs from 26th – 30th October 2026 in Borehamwood and there are 30 fully funded spaces* available.
Submitting an application does not guarantee a place on the programme.
All applications will be carefully reviewed to ensure the programme reaches young people who will benefit most from this unique opportunity.

*Successful applicants will be asked to pay a £50 refundable deposit to secure their place. The deposit will be refunded on programme completion and may be waived where it presents a barrier to participation

Successful applicants will be invited to secure their place on Hertsmere Creative Futures Filmmaking Programme by paying a £50 refundable place confirmation deposit.
The deposit is designed to confirm your commitment to the programme and help ensure that our limited, funded places are fully utilised.
Your £50 deposit will be refunded in full following completion of the programme, provided the participant attends the full course.
If a participant secures a place but does not attend, withdraws from the programme, or does not complete the full course, the £50 deposit will normally be forfeited.
We understand, however, that unexpected circumstances can arise. Where a participant is unable to attend or complete the programme due to a genuine medical issue, family emergency or other exceptional personal circumstance, Brilliant Film Academy may, at its discretion, refund the deposit in full or in part.
Parents/carers should contact Brilliant Film Academy as soon as reasonably possible if exceptional circumstances affect a participant's attendance. Each situation will be considered individually and sympathetically.

Thanks to funding from Hertsmere Borough Council, the remaining cost of the five-day programme is fully covered, meaning successful applicants receive a full subsidised place on the programme.
Brilliant Film Academy has been commissioned to provide this pilot young people’s initiative as part of the Hertsmere Creative Futures programme to provide local young people with access to exciting careers and opportunities within the Film & TV industry.
